What do they think?

What do they think?

Postby scrappin4kaytie » Sat Mar 06, 2010 5:37 pm

Just wondering what your partners, kids, family and friends think of the time you spend on scrapping? A lot of people I talk to, when Imention I scrap look at me as if I'm mad!!! That's why I love these places, cause you all just get it!!!

DH is pretty good about it and most of the times he just goes to bed and I stay up and scrap lol!!! I try not let it interfere with family time and mostly do it when the kids are sleeping, besides the fact that they would take my stuff and run if I had it all out!!!

My DH is super supportive, he's happy that I'm happy doing something I love :thumbleft: , but I generally don't scrap on weekends or nights very often as I don't want scrapping interferring with our family/social time :D , but the rest of my time it's up to me how I spend it and DH is happy with that :D . Most of my other friends or family think I'm completely bonkers though!!!!!! they just so don't get it at all

I'm like Jane, I don't scrap a lot at night but I do scrap during the day especially when Isobel is at Kinder....or if she is doing craft at her table....she's been brought up with me scrapping so she knows she has to do her own stuff when I'm scrapping...

Nath's very happy I scrap and often shows his mates when they come over what i've done....I don't think they get it LOL...Nath knows it's for my sanity and it's my hobby....

My MIL and MUM don't really get what I do....I think they think why bother, what a waste of time...well that's my MIL for you...she thinks it's more important to be up to date with the ironing :laughing5: :laughing5: :laughing5:
have a great day....Malinda

:laughing5: :laughing5: at the ironing Mal!!!

I don't scrap very often, but IF i do it's just when i feel like it lol.... Usually while the kids are at school and while Zayne naps, but sometimes into the afternoon as well. I very rarely if ever scrap at night and not on the weekends anymore either. Even if we arent actually doing anything and the kids are entertaining themselves I just cant seem to scrap if they are all around lol.

I don't really have the thing about people not "getting it"... Mark used to do the same thing as Nath and show people, but not so much anymore. I dont usually show him what i have done either though.... and he like's when i'm scrapping coz i'm not whingeing at him then :laughing5: :laughing5: :laughing5:

I agree
Funny though Mal it was your mum who suggested you find a hobby!!
Dh has hobbies galore - diving shooting, collecting antique guns, cycling, bonsai

My friends don't get it but that is ok! I get that "look" that says she is mad going away alone on a retreat and scrapbooking for 3 days lol
I think it is funny when someone asks to look at my albums and then they critique my pages - what is with that  :?

Some of my friends are addicted to quilting - and believe it or not, it is more exxy than our hobby lol
I do scrap at night as dh is away a lot after th girls are in bed
and during the day
It is for my sanity and to create beautiful memories of my girls childhood when i am long gone
and I love love the community - I love the retreats and the like mindedness and you don't have to justify or explain just what scrapbooking is...

Husband doesn't understand it - and most of my friends don't scrap, but they are happy if I am happy.... Mum is the same, and so she should, because I've grown up with her painting, drawing, sewing - where do you think I got my love of creating from!! ;)
I love it online - everyone is likeminded!!!! I also like going to crops etc, where everyone just sits and scraps, and encourages.... :love5: I've yet to get to a retreat yet.....

I usually scrap on the weekend, and at nights if I'm not interested in watching anything on tele after Connor goes to bed. Sometimes I'll get up early and scrap too.... bhg

Wow, for those who's DH show your work to their friends etc....I think that is so cool & so awesome!!! :thumbleft: :thumbleft: :thumbleft:

My hubby gets it...and doesn't mind that I scrap, although he is always stirring me about how much time I spend :laughing5: :laughing5: . He occasionally checks out my LO's...but not too often.

He has really expensive hobbies too....motorbikes  ...between him & DS the $$$$$$$ that are sitting out in our garages is phenominal  . But it's what makes them happy....and they know that scrapping makes me happy. DH never questions how much I spend - which is a blessing :love5:

I scrap both day & night...DH is away lots each week so he understand that I need to scrap! cheer2 :love5: :thumbleft:

:D oh same here Linda! Greg races enduro and safari adventure racing - currently rebuilding new bmw G450X for au safari this year  :D makes my scrap budget - both in time and $$ look negligible :thumbleft: :thumbleft:
I usually only scrap when I am alone or with a scrappin friend - in a large group I just have to look at other people's LO's and meet them :D

I scrap when Col is away mostly. And he has cricket meetings often when he is int away. Also when he is watching stuff i dont like on telly i will come and put my tv on and scrap then.
My family always say im nuts but they dont mind looking at what i have scrapped. And also none of my friends scrap they just dont get it.
I find that the girls at work love me to bring in stuff that i have done too which is great.
I relly do it for sanity and also cos i spend alot of time here on my own at night when M is in bed.
take care Kerry

Its so good to have places like this to chat about scrapbooking, cause some people really just don't get it do they? OFten I think about what my life would be like without scrapbooking and how boring it would be. I love dedicating part of my life preserving the memories of my kids and as you say, it is sooooo stress relieving. HAHA "they" just don't know what they're missing out on hey!?!?!?! LOL
